Salem Champions’ Celebration Gallery

Announcing exciting new plans to celebrate Salem, Virginia, the City of Champions

Salem High School 2011 Forensics Champions

You are invited to join the Salem Museum as we share the stories of Salem’s many Champions in athletics, academics, the arts, civic life, professional achievement, and other areas of success!

In our new Champions Celebration Gallery, we will showcase Salem students and residents who have been recognized with a first place win at the state level or above. This permanent installation will feature both traditional exhibits and an interactive kiosk to preserve all of our Champions’ stories. Opening Day is planned for September 21, 2019!

The technological centerpiece of the new gallery will be the Champions’ Celebration Kiosk providing visitors with an interactive, searchable record of all of Salem’s Champions, with pictures, video and text to permanently record their stories.

The Champions in our data base will be organized by decade and category: Andrew Lewis High School, Carver School, Glenvar High School, Roanoke College, Salem High School, other Salem K-12, Salem’s professional sports teams, Championships held in Salem, and Adults (out of school).

Your donation can honor a beloved coach, teammates, or others!

Know someone who is a Champion in your eyes? Make your gift in honor or in memory of a coach, a team, or another individual who has inspired you, and ask others to do the same. When total donations in honor or in memory of any person or team reach $1,000, the Salem Museum will add a paver for that person or team to our front entrance walkway.

For example, say you were on a team led by Coach Smith. If you and your teammates, together, give $1,000 or more to the Salem Museum’s Champions’ Gallery, we will place a permanent paver in our walkway to recognize Coach Smith.

Donors have the satisfaction of contributing to a winning team and preserving important stories of Salem’s best! All donors and individuals being honored will receive notifications of events and Champions activities. Other benefits and recognition vary by donation level: gifts of $1,000 or more will be permanently recognized in the Gallery. Gifts or $500 or more can sponsor a Champion in our kiosk.
