The Logan Library at the Salem Museum houses local yearbooks, newspapers, family histories, genealogical records, and archive material about Salem and the immediate area. There are extensive biographical files on local residents, as well as topical files of interest to those in the Salem area. The Library is home to books about Virginia with an emphasis on Salem and the surrounding counties. Of note is the extensive collection of photos owned by the Museum. These photos are now being digitized and added to the Online Catalog.
The Logan Library also houses the files of Norwood C. Middleton, author of Salem: a Virginia Chronicle published in 1986, and the original map collection of John Hildebrand. J.R. Hildebrand was a Roanoke City cartographer who created county maps for the Roanoke Historical Society.
